  • Represented a firm of accountants in a dispute concerning the dismissal of a former employee.

  • Represented a director charged by ASIC with various offences under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

  • Acted for an employee in defence to a claim alleging fraud and a counterclaim for unpaid entitlements.

  • Acted for a retailer in defence to a wholesaler’s claim for both breach of contract and the terms of bailment of certain goods.

  • Acted for a manufacturer of industrial equipment in a claim for goods and services supplied.

  • Acted for builders and owners in major domestic building disputes at both hearings and mediations.

  • Represented a defendant in the successful defence of a summary judgment application by a credit provider in the Supreme Court.

  • Represented parties at Supreme Court hearings for judicial review of certain decisions of VCAT and statutory authorities.

  • Acted for hoteliers in defence to a claim in the Federal Magistrates’ Court concerning a Heads of Agreement in relation to the sale of two hotels.

  • Represented an entertainer against allegations of fraud.

  • Represented an owner of a thoroughbred racehorse in a negligence claim against certain veterinary practices.

  • Acted for various parties in injunction applications.

  • Acted for a veterinary surgeon in a claim against the owner of several horses for unpaid fees.

  • Acted for people charged with criminal offences heard in the Magistrates’ Court.

  • Represented indigenous and other persons as duty lawyer at Mildura VIC and Wentworth NSW Courts.

  • Represented people in Apprehended Violence applications.

  • Acted for a company charged with contraventions of the Environmental Protection Act and court action against the manufacturers of the machinery causing the nuisance.

  • Acted for commercial landlords in disputes between lessors and lessees in relation to, amongst other things:

  • A nightclub;

  • A reception venue; and

  • The removal from the premises of a lessee who was in breach of the relevant lease.

  • Represented a landlord to recover outstanding rent and occupancy costs from a tenant that had abandoned the premises in the District Court of Queensland; where it was necessary to execute warrants in relation to the judgment debt and seize and sell the defaulting tenant’s property.

  • Amongst other things, advised:

  • Various companies with respect to shareholder agreements;

  • Commercial landlords and tenants as to their rights and obligations;

  • A company with respect to the sale of six businesses;

  • A hospitality company in a partnership dispute; and

  • An exporter and wholesaler in a trademark dispute concerning allegedly misleading trademarks and advertising.

  • Acted for a builder defendant in major County Court trial over a number of years with a number of defendants where the allegations involved, amongst other things, unsatisfactory building work and manufactured materials not fit for purpose.

  • Acted for high net-worth individuals in disputes concerning companies, businesses and trusts. 

  • Represented an employee in an application from relief for termination of employment in the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
